Holy Land Update
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. ~Psalm 122:6
Many of you have traveled with me to the Holy Land or followed my travels through Facebook and Instagram. You know the special place the Holy Land is — that place where Jesus made His earthly home. Recent events of war, fighting, and terrorism have all of us concerned for the people we have encountered along the way. I’m in regular contact with our friends: Shafik, our guide; George, our driver; Saliba and Sam from Voice of Faith; Shibly and George from the Kando Store. They and their families — as well as our dinner host families — are presently safe, but they ask for our prayers now and for the future. As I hear and learn more, I will keep you updated. In the meantime, please join me in praying for Jesus’ peace and protection upon all who live in the Holy Land and visit this special place. Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, has asked that Tuesday, October 17 be observed as a day of prayer, fasting, and abstinence for peace in the Holy Land; perhaps we can join our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land in this prayer effort. For upcoming Holy Land pilgrimage travel in 2024, we will continue to monitor the situation with the primary concern for safety for all pilgrims.
